Building Families First Community Organization
We not just rebuilding we are investing in property and human capital, simultaneously.

We start in the house to provide training to:

  •   Students in local HVACR programs complete their HVACR certification with work on our houses
  •   Women learn skills in a trade necessary to compete in today’s market place in green jobs
  •   We are providing certified skilled labor that is attractive to our local Union’s.
  •   While offering more

Job Training
Education and training are the drivers of economic mobility and opportunity. BFFCO works to strengthen partnerships to ensure that low wage workers and low-income individuals can not only enter, but advance in the labor market by assuring that businesses have access to workers with skills they need to compete. Transitional jobs, career exploration, job placement, and access to work support such as child care are all things that we provide in assisting individuals to succeed in education and training as well as gain more fulfilling employment and careers.

We are currently taking applications for on-the-job training in residential trades. If you successfully complete the class you could move into an apprenticeship program with one of our partners or apply to take the test for the State of Michigan Alteration and Maintenance license.

Today's skilled trades are the hot jobs that are growing and evolving.
Did you know skilled trades:

  •   Are some of the most in-demand jobs posted online? More than 8,300 skilled trade jobs are currently available in Michigan.
  •   Provide opportunities that will continue to grow? More than 6,700 job openings are expected every year, through 2022.
  •   Don't necessarily require a four-year degree?
